Meltwater and seepage occur under snow loads due to solar radiation – especially in regions with large temperature change between day and night, such as mountainous areas – or due to poor building insulation.

Pre-warmed water meets the cold metal of the gutter. The heat is instantly drawn out of the meltwater, causing it to freeze. This leads to frozen downspouts and gutters. Water can no longer drain properly. It backs up to the edge of the gutter and begins to drip over. Over time, this creates large and dangerous icicles. Falling icicles can injure people or cause property damage.

By installing the bamaheat gutter heating system, downspouts and gutters are protected from freezing. Meltwater and seepage can flow freely through the downspouts and are safely drained into the ground or the sewage system.

The system uses heating cables that convert electrical energy into heat quickly and precisely. To keep energy consumption as low as possible, two different sensors and controllers are used. The system only activates under specific conditions – when temperatures drop below +5 °C and when meltwater, seepage, or precipitation is detected.
